Globally, young people between the ages of 15 and 24 represent 18 per cent of the world’s population or 1.2 billion people and majority of them live in developing countries. In Ghana, the youth represents about 20% of the population which translates into approximately 5.92million youth. Youth are a great resource for building the economies of cities, and indeed of countries. This is why our main approach as a foundation is to setup a standard international youth resort and resource center with the aim of improving, amongst other things, employability and entrepreneurship among young people.
The Oheneba International Youth Center is to be setup in the enviable environment of Brodekwano on the banks of Lake Bosomtwi in the Ashanti Region, designed as a “one stop” shop specifically for youth, to ensure that they receive barrier-free access to the services youths need in our community. The center will provide young people with educational support, career development opportunities, and positive role models for academic and professional success. It is our belief that youth engagement and empowerment through training and capacity development is key to addressing the challenges faced by young people.
The youth center seeks to impart and encourage the following:
- Creativity
- Discipline
- Entrepreneurship skills
- Leadership skills
- Social skills
- Team building
